Jubail University College, which is due for completion in 2017 is aiming to achieve a LEED gold rating, MEED’s Saudi Mega Projects’ sustainability, energy efficiency and clean energy day was told this afternoon.

“Jubail University College was designed to achieve LEED silver,” said Royal Commission for Jubail director of engineering Ahmad Hassan. “But using the design principles we have adopted, we should easily be able to get to gold.”

Hassan said the additional LEED points would come through the efficiency of construction and waste recycling.

The college is designed to have 18,000 students and is the largest single building complex in Jubail Industrial City’s expansion plan.
