Bids invited for Sir Bani Yas Island hotel concession

Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) today called for bids for the 30-year concession to build and operate a three-four star hotel beachside resort on Sir Bani Yas Island in the west of the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Sir Bani Yas Island lies off Ruwais and is one of Abu Dhabi’s most celebrated tourism destinations. It has a private airport, a port with a marina and Abu Dhabi’s Arabian Wildlife Park where Arabia’s largest population of Arabian Oryx live.

The project calls for investors to develop a 110,000 square metre plot. TDIC says that the minimum acceptable bid for leasing the land will be AED 1m ($300,000) a year. It says bidders must be UAE-registered. Prequalifying bids are due on 9 June 2014.
