A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the UK and Iran about rail transport has been signed during a visit to London by Islamic Republic of Iran Railways president Mohsen Pourseyyed Aghaei.

The MoU seeks to develop Iran’s railway system through the exchange of knowledge and technology.

It was signed as a follow up to the visit of deputy minister of state at the UK’s Department of Transport Robert Goodwill earlier this year.

This is the first formal agreement about trade and investment signed between the UK and Iran since nuclear sanctions were relaxed in January.
