Tanker company to resume Iran oil shipments

The National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) will resume shipments of oil to Europe soon, an NITC official was quoted today as saying by Fars New Agency.

NITC’s Ramin Rajaei said the NITC tanker fleet remained fit for purpose despite sanctions.

Iran says it is now exporting 2m barrels a day (b/d) and aims to lift that figure to 2.2m b/d by the end of the summer.

This compares with about 1.2m b/d before the relaxation of nuclear-related sanctions in January this year.

NITC sent its first oil cargoes following sanctions to destinations in Africa and Asia.
