Qatar on track for 3 million visitors in 2015

The number of foreign visitors to Qatar rose by 7 per cent in the first half of 2015 and is on track to grow to 3 million in the year as a whole, the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) said in a report published today.

Visitors from the GCC totalled more than 620,000, accounting for the largest share of the total.

Occupancy rates across all Qatar hotels reached 75 per cent in the first half of 2015. At the same time, average room rates fell by 2 per cent.

The QTA said 11 new hotels with 1,400 rooms opened in the first half of 2015.
