Putin to meet Khamenei during Tehran visit

Russia’s President Putin will meet Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during a visit to Tehran on Monday, Putin’s senior foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov said today.

Talks with Iran’s leadership will focus on “issues in bilateral relations, including atomic energy, oil and gas and military-technical cooperation”, Ushakov said.

Put will also meet Iran’s President Rouhani.

The visit to Tehran will be Putin’s first since 2007. He is expected to attend the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in the Iranian capital which opens on 21 November.
