Municipal authorities in Saudi Arabia should provide incentives including grants to encourage developers to building green buildings, MEED’s Saudi Mega Projects’ sustainability, energy efficiency and clean energy day was told this morning.

“It makes huge sense to build green,” PeoplePla Green Institute chief sustainability officer Hashim Abuelgasim said. “(But) Municipalities should consider providing incentives to developers to build green buildings. This will contribute to more validation of the green building case.”

Abuelgasim said that there needs to be a proper study of the costs of benefits of green buildings and more education to promote better understanding of green buildings.

Saudi Mega Projects is being held the Riyadh Intercontinental Hotel on 8-10 December 2015.
