The Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) is prioritizing sustainability in the delivery of its major minerals projects in different parts of the kingdom, MEED’s Saudi Mega Projects’ sustainability, energy efficiency and clean energy day was told this afternoon.

“Ma’aden is one of the fastest growing companies in the region, but we are building our industry on the basis of sustainability,” Ma’aden’s corporate sustainability assurance director Ahmed Ajabnoor said in a panel session at the event. “We deploy sustainability concepts in all our projects. An example is Waad al-Shamal where we are building green buildings in the city part of the project.”

“We are deploying green building concepts and LEED in many of our projects and we are looking at retrofit our existing buildings,” Ajabnoor said. “We haven’t done enough and I believe we should do more.”
