Kuwait’s Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Ali al-Omair today discussed cooperation in the oil sector and prospects of importing gas from Iran with Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh in a meeting Tehran.

The meeting followed talks in Tehran yesterday between Kuwait’s emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah and Iranian President Rouhani, which encompassed oil and gas cooperation, the acting undersecretary of the Iranian Ministry of Oil, Ali bin Sabt said in a statement.

“It was agreed upon during the meeting that an Iranian delegation would visit Kuwait soon to meet with the concerned officials to discuss all the details on importing the Iranian gas by Kuwait,” Bin Sabt is reported as saying.

Kuwait started importing gas to meet domestic shortages in April 2012.
