Iranian petchems to EU still blocked; WSJ

Iranian petrochemical exports are still being blocked by the EU despite the easing of sanctions effective since the start of 2014, the New York daily The Wall Street Journal has reported.

Abbas Shea’ri Moghaddam, Iran’s deputy oil minister for petrochemicals, told a news conference in Tehran on 9 May that “nothing has changed compared with last year.”

Tehran is allowed to export petrochemicals to EU members under a 20 January interim agreement with six world powers.

Moghaddam said sales were blocked because of sanctions on payment transfers and tanker insurance.
