An events licensing system for the official registration of events and conferences in Abu Dhabi was launched today in a decree issued by Abu Dhabi crown prince and Abu Dhabi Executive Council chairman Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.

It will be managed by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).

TCA Abu Dhabi chairman Mohamed Khalifa al-Mubarak form a committee to oversee the events sector in the emirate.

The ELS will go into effect in the fourth quarter of 2016. The service will be applied to entities that organise and manage events in Abu Dhabi including those with dedicated spaces for hosting functions. They will have to register their events on the ELS website.

TCA Abu Dhabi director general Saif Saeed Ghobash said: “Through the Events Licensing System, we seek to organise, standardise, and manage events across Abu Dhabi, whether leisure or business-related, in line with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, which leads the emirate on a path to become a global tourism destination.”
